Meet the Team

I started playing in the Nuts poker league in Lancashire in 2007 and believed so much in the concept I wanted to get more involved. I moved 200 miles to Norfolk to set up the Nuts poker league and bought the franchise for the area where I have continued the concept of the founder Steve Bellis in making the league a friendly, fun and rewarding pastime for players of all ages and all abilities.

Testimonials

I just wanted to say that the Nuts Poker League has been a fantastic addition to our social events and competitions. Having been hosting for only a couple of years we have seen the player numbers go from strength to strength and this is all down to the positive atmosphere the league creates. This has not only benefited us financially but also meant players who may not have had reason to visit have now become part of our community of regular customers. A special mention must go to the organisers of the league who make these events so enjoyable, their commitment is a big part of the leagues success.

We at the sole and heel public house, Started up the Nuts Poker league 7 years ago, it was a way to try and get people into the pub on a Monday night when we don't do food. With alot of work and providing nice tables and poker chips with a few extras on the way, ie sandwiches and chips. We have turned a boring Monday night at the sole and heel into a very enjoyable evening with 20 plus players every week.

The Black Swan is extremely pleased to host the Nuts Poker League on a Friday night Unsure what to expect we have seen the poker nights go from strength to strength, now regularly hosting 3 tables of up to 24 players each week. We offer a small, intimate venue with a dedicated poker room set aside for the league games. Poker has been a welcome addition to what the pub offers without affecting our existing bar and restaurant trade.

We are happy to provide refreshments for the players but some choose to arrive early and either have a bar snack or take a table in our restaurant for a formal meal. We look at our poker players as our regulars, even if some of them travel from further afield to attend here. The atmosphere created in the poker room is a mix of tension, laughter and of course frustration when the player is eliminated.

The Nuts Poker League has been played at The Queens Head Hethersett on a Sunday evening for a number of years. It significantly increases our Sunday night drink trade which would otherwise be very quiet. Having on average 16 players each Sunday also creates a good atmosphere which again would be very quiet. A number of the poker players have never been to the pub before but having visited for poker many return for a meal with friends and family which then increases our food trade. To summarise the Nuts Poker league plays an important role in increasing our weekly turnover.
